Pretty things and something for me

I have had a very busy couple of weeks with orders, for which I am very grateful.  It's fantastic when my stock sells, but I do so love making appliqued bunting. I love the whole process from putting together the fabric options, to deciding upon the felt colours and then adding the little details. Here's some of favourites that have gone in the post this week:

Pretty Pinks with Itty Bitty embellishments and lace trim

A bespoke order with a pretty vintage feel

Gorgeous Delilah fabrics, with the appliques in a mix of upper and lower case

Having had such a busy time, my orders book has been well thumbed and as I kept picking it up I did think it was a very sad looking thing with it's black plastic cover.  So, I set to making it a pretty cover

Out came my collection of precious fabrics, that I have squirrelled away for just such occasions, my cotton lace collection, linen tapes, ribbons and wooden buttons

I really, really, really enjoyed making this and sad as it may sound, I shall give me lots of pleasure, each time I pick it up

I hope that you have a lovely weekend, what's left of it and a great week!

Flutter flutter little butterflies

A couple of weeks ago, I made a Felt Love Bunting for the gorgeous Tina from ARC kisses

When she got it home she then asked if it was possible to add some extra butterflies to the twine.  Now I love making something new and you know how much I adore butterflies

I wanted the butterlies to have a 3D quality and this is what I came up with

and then I got thinking, how lovely would they look sewn onto my bias tape

and I have to say I am loooooving them

Each one is carefully hand stitched and then given a Little Kitten Homemade 'flutter'

and of course they can come in any colour

oh and what about adding some twine and making them into a flutterby garland

or a mobile, oh my mind is full of ideas

but in the meanwhile I hope that you like my flutter flutter little butterflies

Dancing Princess Stitch Along

I am extremely excited to be taking part in my very first Stitch Along designed and organised by the very talented LiliPopo . The idea is based around the fairy story the 12 Dancing Princesses and will take 12 months to complete. I'm going to turn my embroidery patterns into a wall quilt for Poppy's bedroom, it may have pockets for keeping 'stuff' in, but I haven't quite decided yet.

What I have decided upon is the fabrics

Cath Kidston florals

I want to add a splash of colour to her room, which at the moment has white walls, mostly white furniture, a bit of bunting (of course), a hand stitched quilt and lots of toys!

and I know I want to add lace, buttons

and probably some ribbon

I also want to theme the embroideries to the month, so here is January's completed embroidery 'Princess Bee', with the addition of some snowflakes ( a bit of artistic licence... eeek I hope that's allowed??)

I'm using linen for all the embroideries, I think this will create a lovely contrast to the florals

So far I'm a happy bunny and I can't wait to stitch the next Princess.  You can follow the progress of those taking part in this Flick group.  Right I'm off now to add mine.

Have a lovely weekend!

Great excitement at LKH HQ

I love gardening and there is nothing better than growing your own.  Sadly I had to give up our allotment last year, when it became obvious that there was not enough hours in the day for growing veg, sewing and being mum.  We did however transfer as many of our fruit plants (strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrant and blackberries) to our small back garden.  We also grow all our salad and tomato crops throughout the summer.

Blackcurrants ripening last summer

My love of gardening was inspired by the television programme Gardeners World.  Last year I visited the late Geoff Hamiltons wonderful Barnsdale gardens, they are truely amazing and if ever you are in Rutland, well worth a visit.

But my favourite presenter ever has to be Alan Titchmarsh.  So how happy was I when asked on Sunday night by the lovely Sally from Dorothy and Theodore if I could provide some Jubilee themed bunting for his TV programme 'The Alan Titchmarsh show'.   So here he is with my Tea Party bunting on Wednesday's show, (excuse the photo taken of the tv!)

and here's a close up of the pretty 'kitch' bunting.

oh and here's another patriotic version of this bunting made for last years Royal Wedding which would be perfect for Jubilee celebrations or the Olympics maybe, what do you think?

Have a lovely weekend!
